Guy Fieri Visits DMK, Eats Parmesan Truffle Fries

DMK Burger Bar was visited by a certain spiky-haired Food Network host last week, which means that it will be featured on an upcoming episode of Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. If you haven’t experienced the “Triple D” in all it’s greasy glory, the show finds Guy Fieri stuffing his face at mostly independent diners, while traveling around the country in a red Camaro convertible. We are not ashamed to admit that we’ve been sucked into watching the show for hours on end. At DMK, Fieri apparently loved the Parmesan truffle fries, the #4 burger and the #5 bison burger. Still, while it’s cool that such a deserving spot was picked, we can’t help but point out that DMK is already incredibly busy, and that this won’t help our chances of getting a table on a weekend. See, while you may look to Andrew Zimmern or Anthony Bourdain for all your travel recommendations, Fieri fans are far more prevalent than you might realize.

Stephen Colbert may have the “Colbert bump,” but restaurants that are featured on Fieri’s show usually experience a huge jump in traffic that can last for years. The New York Times covered a series of restaurants that have had to hire more staff and work longer hours. One restaurant in Connecticut was even expanding. All of the restaurants featured on the show are organized by a fan site called Flavor Town USA, and there is even an iPhone app (we are not making any of this up).

According to Steve Dolinsky, DMK Burger Bar has already decided to expand to the suburbs, so perhaps we are overreacting. But what do you think about all this?
