And Angelo Sosa Makes It Ten Top Chefs

L.A. is on the verge of overdosing when it comes to Top Chef alumni. We have Michael Voltaggio, Ilan Hall, Marcel, Fabio, Jamie Lauren, CJ, Stefan, Amanda Baumgarten, Alex Reznik, and last we heard, Elia was coming our way with her own restaurant. Today Eater reports that The Malibu Inn is going to reopen in a few weeks with help from their own Top Chef, Angelo Sosa, who owns an eponymous consulting group that will assist in the relaunch. Is our tenth Top Chef one too many?

Fortunately, this is actually one of those TV chefs we think we’d like to have here, seeing as the toque is a Jean Georges disciple and the former exec chef at New York’s Spice Market. He almost pulled his season too, before being beaten back by the likes of Kevin Sbraga.

Sosa’s score is a passion for Asian cuisine and the chef just opened Socialz Eatz in Manhattan, a follow-up to his shuttered sandwich shop Xie Xie. While the newly revamped Malibu Inn space is going for a hardcore rocker look, with at least one graffiti mural, here’s hoping Sosa will have something cool to add to our blossoming scene of Asian innovation. In the meantime, check out the restaurant’s Facebook page to see Sosa in the kitchen, shaking pans while some dude puts yet another camera in his face.
