Can’t make it to the South Beach Wine & Food Festival’s Burger Bash? Don’t dismay: Several of Ken Oringer’s burger-lovin’ friends will descend upon his KO Prime on February 28 for the second annual KO Burger Battle. Who needs a party when you can engage in actual burger warfare?Juicy details straight ahead.

Soldiers in this valiant burger fight include Jaap Overgaag (Charlie’s Kitchen); Brooke Vosika (Bristol Lounge); Jamie Bissonnette (Toro/Coppa); Jay Silva (Bambara); Josh Buehler (KO Prime); Louis DiBiccari (Sel de la Terre); Matt Celeste (Island Creek Oyster Bar); Ming Tsai (Blue Ginger); Robert Grant (Butcher Shop); Seth Morrison (The Gallows); Suzi Maitland (Trina’s Starlite); and Will Gilson (Garden at the Cellar).

We’re told that Buehler will whip up a KO Burger with cheese and cherry pepper sauce and house-cured bacon, while Voisika (last year’s winner) will showcase her Bristol beef burger and Bissonnette will trot out an aged sirloin and short-rib burger.

The battle commences at 6 p.m.; tickets are $30 in advance and $40 at the door; admission buys you the chance to taste each burger and help decide on a winner. And while our cholesterol levels might suffer, proceeds benefit Autism Speaks. Call 617‐772‐5875 to reserve your spot on the front lines.

(And don’t forget to root for Michael Schlow and Boston Burger Company’s Paul Malvone at that kinder, gentler South Beach bash.)
