The upscale Mexican spot plans for a late March debut in the Seaport District’s Liberty Wharf. Per a release, Temazcal’s full menu will be presented on the Apple iPad, a first for any restaurant nationwide. Diners will be “introduced to each menu item’s unique regional history, accompanied by photographs, recipes and nutritional facts.” The first restaurant in the country to do this? OK. Sounds pretty cool in theory, but are people going to take the time to explore this kind of feature? (Especially after sampling a few of their 300 tequilas?!) Are these kinds of bells and whistles the wave of the future, or a distraction from what’s actually on the plate?
