Mercadito has been an incredible success since it first opened up in 2009, so it makes sense that the Mercadito Hospitiality company would look to expand. But instead of just copying the same format, they’ve announced a much different project called Tavernita. It’s billed as a “sexy, spirited, modern restaurant,” which will offer “European-inspired dishes with Mediterranean and Latin flavors.” It’s also going to be big, with a projected 334 seats. But what will they be serving?

The official menu isn’t yet out, but the press release showcases a little bit of everything. As is apparently required this year, there will be oysters and a crudo bar. But there will also be charcuterie, flat breads, and a Uruguyan wood fired grill which uses a mix of “alder, grapevine, hickory and mesquite.” There you go. It’ll be located at the former Martini Park location, which had closed over the summer.

There is a website, including a preview video. While it’s not as awesome as Tamalli Space Charros (few are), you can get a few glimpses of what the dining rooms might look like, along with a very serious soundtrack.
