Taco Bell Defends Its Beef With Another Ad, 88-Cent Crunchwraps

If you’d more or less forgotten last month’s Taco Bell ground-beef kerfluffle, well, the fast-food Mex chain has not. It might have taken a month, but now Taco Bell lets us know, via a press release, that they’ve rounded up a half-dozen loyal employees to go on-camera and support the “88 percent premium ground beef and 12 percent signature recipe,” which is “right there” on Taco Bell’s website — you know, in case you have some isolated oat product in your kitchen and want to re-create it at home. But that’s not all!

The chain also tells us that, in an attempt to win back the love of the gluttonous American consumer, it’s offering — “this week only” — a beef Crunchwrap Supreme for 88 cents! Okay … So the way to prove your beef is top-quality is to sell it for an incredibly low price? And honestly, who cares what Taco Bell employees have to say about the beef? If the company really wanted back in our good graces, they should have just had Lewis Black do the commercial.
