Michael Bauer, who didn’t much care for Commis when it opened in 2009 even though most others did, returned there this week as part of his Top 100 update tour. We may not see a full update review of the place unless he’s feeling generous, but he does note a dish he was particularly impressed with, if mostly for its presentation: Edible rocks, that are actually crisp Parmesan cookies covered in ash. “When the bowl of rocks were set in front of me, at first I thought it might be a joke,” he writes. “They taste good, but the presentation is the star.” [Between Meals/Scoop]
