Newsweek Heralds ‘Hip’ Emanuel Era

Rahm will apparently lead a hip city.
Rahm will apparently lead a hip city.

Look at that. Newsweek thinks Chicago is hip! That’s right, after the Rahm Emanuel coronation last Tuesday, the magazine has decided that now is the time for our city. Of course, that means little more than pointing out that we have great shopping, internet millionaires, and lots of great restaurants, but which places did they pick out? Well, Moto, Takashi, and Schwa are selected as being “famous among foodies.” Of course, this being 2011, the magazine notes that the “Emanuel era will kick off in earnest when chef Grant Achatz…opens a completely new restaurant in the raffish West Loop district, appropriately called Next.” It’s kind of a puff piece, but after a ridiculously cold and snowy February, we’ll take the compliment.
