Lazy Dog Cafe Hitting Cerritos in Early March

Lazy Dog Cafe, a mini-empire of restaurants that skirts L.A. in Orange County, San Fernando Valley, and South Bay, is coming to a new location in Cerritos in the second week of March. Lazy Dog (which joins a blue boar and a blue dog, a few inebriated goats, a “jiraffe,” and one lazy ox) was originally inspired by the founder’s trip to Jackson Hole and seeks to recreate the warm confines of a winter lodge, albeit one in a huge, mall-attached chain restaurant. The menu is huge, with everything from burgers, sandwiches, and bar snacks to brick oven-fired pizzas, wok plates, and entrees of cast-iron Idaho trout, bacon wrapped steak, and sixteen dollar lamb shanks. The lack of a buffalo burger kind of ruins the whole Wyoming vibe, but what can you do? This next location will be within closer reach of Northeast L.A. than the others when it opens in Los Cerritos Center.

Lazy Dog Cafe, 278 Los Cerritos Center, Cerritos. 562-402-6644.
