For months we’ve wondered whatever became of Guapos Tacos, the seldom-seen food truck from Jose Garces and restaurant designer Jun Aizaki. Nearly six months have passed since it made its debut at Amis’ Industry Night. In its absence we feared L&I;’s war on cupcake trucks last summer might have sent it into hiding. Yesterday the Iron Chef announced that the truck is ready to start rolling again. Soon. Today it will be parked at Amada for a staff-only party, the Insider reports. There’s some talk that it will eventually start roaming the streets, announcing stops via Twitter. But before you get your hopes up for lunchtime tacos, tamales and Mission-style veggie quesadillas, a press release issued yesterday emphasized that Guapos Tacos will be “primarily available for private events.” Could this just be a clever way of avoiding the inevitable L&I; hassles it will likely encounter cruising the streets?
