West Village Gets a New, ‘Secret’ Restaurant

UrbanDaddy has caught wind of Hudson Clearwater, a newly opened restaurant accessed through a green door behind an abandoned storefront on Hudson and Bank Streets. They don’t say who’s behind it (matching this Times story about the space’s previous pop-up incarnation with the names on the liquor license indicates that the building’s owner, architect John Barboni, is teaming up with a relative Mark Barboni, along with a couple of other partners), but they do mention “a giant chef’s bar, a sunken dining room and the overwhelming smell of Cured Pork Belly.”

Update: Matching this Times story about the space’s previous incarnation with the names on the liquor license indicates that the building’s owner, architect John Barboni, is teaming up with a relative, Mark Barboni, along with two other partners. The chef will be Wes Long, an alum of Savannah, Georgia’s Vida and Eos whose LinkedIn page describes Hudson Clearwater as a “rustic American, seasonal, locally sourced restaurant in an early 1800’s townhouse in the West Village of Manhattan”
