It’s 2011 and yes, we are living in the age of information, but news of S. Irene Virbila’s unmasking only just made a splash in Australia today. So what do the Aussies do with the information? Make fun of us uptight yanks, naturally. The Sydney Morning Herald boasts that food critics in the land down unda’ don’t bother with wigs and walking sticks, but commonly post their photographs along with their reviews. Plus, in France, it’s pointed out, critics are bigger celebs than chefs most of the time. True, but at least our news travels noticeably quicker than those witchety grubs and snails your food elite loves to eat. [SMH]
