Two of the city’s cheapo chow-down events are back. First, Metromix brings a dozen of its favorites (from Lowcountry, Anfora, Choza Taqueria, and others) to Astor Center on January 31, for another round of Hot Plates Live. $15 tickets are available here. Then on March 29, the Voice’s Choice Eats returns to the 69th Armory, with $35 general-admission tickets going on sale January 26. This year, food trucks such as Korilla and Taim Mobile will be parked outside — check out the seventeen participating restaurants (everything from Del Post to Jamaica’s O Lavrador to another one of Sietsema’s Queens favorites, Maima’s Liberian Bistro & Bar) at the event’s website.
