Sonoma police have been searching the homes of local parolees and making unrelated arrests in an effort to figure out who’s been burglarizing restaurants in the area for the past month. Between December 14 and January 8, five different restaurants all near the Sonoma town plaza were robbed: Lokal, Meritage, Swiss Hotel, Estate and Rin’s Thai. In the case of Rin’s, the bandits made off with a 70-pound safe that was bolted to the floor, filled with $3,000 in cash, but not before making themselves a snack. Owner Anthony Komindr “discovered a bowl of noodles in a microwave, as if someone had been planning to eat and thought better about it.”
