It’s been an interesting couple of weeks for residents of the South Loop. First a fire took Ole Hardwood, and now we find out that Opera also closed on December 31. Luckily, this one won’t be shut down for too long. According to Metromix, the contemporary Chinese spot will be replaced by a “gastropubby sports bar,” which should be opening in four months or so. Of course, this has us wondering whether Chicagoans have yet reached the end of their love affair with any new opening that throws around the word “gastropub,” especially one that will also be a sports bar… [Metromix]
