New Owner Holds Contest to Give Gravity Room a New Name

The Gravity Room in the Marina will not be renamed the Gypsy Tea Room, as we previously thought based on a new liquor license app from Tortilla Heights owner Paul Owens. That turns out to be just a placeholder, and Tablehopper recently bent Owens’s ear and discovered that he’s actually looking for suggestions for a new name, and he’s offering $1,000 cash to the person who suggests a name for the new lounge that they end up using. The vibe is going to be “an old gentlemen’s club… but also be very ‘come as you are’,” and the plan is to put in a new sound system, new bathrooms, and give it a total face lift. Email your suggestions for names here, before midnight on Valentine’s Day.
