
This Sunday, January 9th, Torino-born Grom Gelateria is opening its first West Coast location, with a Malibu store that will dispense free gelato on its inaugural day, from 11:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. The icy chain, which informs us that it sources only in-season fruit from a farm in Piedmont, already has 50 locations spread throughout the globe and has already tripled its presence in New York. And since gelato looks set to be the hottest frozen treat of 2011 (there’s even a gelato university, which might rank just below clown school as the place you most hesitate to tell your parents you’re attending), you can probably expect more of these little Grom-mets dropping in on our streets in the months to come.
