Get Ready For Downtown’s Aburiya Toranoko; Church & State Owner Taking Over Royal Clayton’s Address

Downtown: Lazy Ox owner Michael Cardenas will debut his next project, Aburiya Toranoko, next Wednesday, an izakaya with Japanese beers and inspired cocktails next door to “The Ox.” Expect a massive menu of meticulous bar eats priced under ten dollars. Yassmin Sarmadi is taking over The Royal Clayton’s space. She might keep the pub vibe, but will change the name and change the way it operates, bringing in Church & State’s wine expert and chef to consult on the offerings. [L.A. Weekly]

Normandie: Papa Cristo’s is plans an renovation to its exterior and interior, with possible plans to open a pizza restaurant next door. [Eater]
Pomona: Luna, which we adored most at East L.A. Meets Napa, has opened the nightclub/lounge, restaurant, capable of fitting 750 people. Hopefully, they eschew using a moon logo with a stiffy. [Feast]
Silver Lake: El Unico Cilantro, a new taco shop with outdoor seating, has come to the corner of Virgil and Santa Monica. [Feast]
