Garibaldi’s Shutters In Oakland, Getting Re-Concepted As Hudson

Another finer dining establishment goes casual: Garibaldi’s on College Avenue in Oakland, which split into two restaurants in 2009 with one side becoming the more casual Marzano, closed over the weekend and owner John Hurley is transforming the place into a “modern American brasserie with Italian influences” called Hudson, as the Scoop reports. The remodel is expected to be complete later this month, including a new lounge area where there’ll be late-night food, open until 1 a.m. on weekends. According to Hurley, the stress and expense of running two restaurants became too much, and Hudson will be more “fun” and “relaxed.” Garibaldi’s SF and the other Marzano on Park Boulevard in Oakland remain open.
