The Future

Ferran Adrià Has Big Plans

While half the culinary world duked it out at the Bocuse d’Or competition in Lyon today, Catalan chef Ferran Adrià gave a presentation at the international summit Madrid Fusion that detailed his plans for the El Bulli Foundation. In the biggest reveal thus far about Adrià’s post–El Bulli plans, the chef explained that the Foundation, slated to open in 2014, will provide space for the El Bulli archives, as well as an “Ideario,” a space for coming up with brilliant new ideas. All of this will sit within an “eco-neighborhood” and park, which will produce zero carbon emissions. No word concerning the foremost questions on our minds, namely, Where and what will we eat? And will El Bulli 2.0 perhaps be on the grounds? According to the Feast Boston, Adrià plans to reveal more at the Mistura Gastronomic Fair in Lima, Peru, next year. For the time being, click ahead for video renderings of the Ideario’s futuristic teardrop-shaped buildings.
