Pasticceria Natalina Closing Next Year

We’re getting kind of used to chefs suddenly leaving in the middle of the night, so what are we to make of the announcement that Pasticceria Natalina will close next September? That’s next year! Well, apparently that is when the lease on the Andersonville space runs out, and Natalina & Nicolas Zarzour already decided not to renew it. The shop was something of a labor of love, with some of the best pastries in the city. But they also had prices to match, and business is down. It had always been a critic’s darling, with Michael Nagrant being one of the most ardent supporters.

Our favorite quote about the place comes from Serious Eat’s City Guide, where Nagrant gives them this writeup:

If you like your authentic Sicilian pastry served with a side of magical realism, the fantastic hand-made, dreamlike confections of Pasticceria Natalina, including maybe the best cannoli in America, are worth the calories.

Still, it doesn’t seem like Natalie Zarzour is taking it too hard. On Twitter she recommended that we “plz enjoy the fuck out of Xmas sweet this years. Pasticceria Natalina announces last holiday season. 10 months & counting…” You heard her. Get there now.
