Four-year-old bakery Panade, which specializes in the French puff pastries known as choux, reopened yesterday in a larger space across Eldridge Street. While the previous sliver of a shop had just a handful of counter stools, the bright new café boasts seven or eight tables, with art by Matt Siren on the walls (the artist’s figurines are also for sale on site). More space means an expanded menu is possible; choux in flavors like ham and cheese or rosemary, have stuck around, but owner Yvette Ho has added breakfast puffs (stuffed with egg and bacon or ham), plus more in the way of lunchtime sandwiches, as well as the option of salads. For something sweet, you’ll find the choux stuffed with cream and fruit, plus muffins in flavors like pear, banana-chocolate, or pumpkin, with a full espresso menu to accompany.
