Ask any opinionated drinker — in Philly, there are plenty — and they will tell you that the state’s Liquor Control Board is a criminal operation. And news today from the Inquirer that the draconian booze bureau busted more than 20 of its own following an investigation into “widespread financial irregularities,” just might give weight to the surly-and-soused’s contentions.
