Make Gramercy Tavern’s Edible Cookie Ornaments

Photo: Nicole Franzen

Every winter, the team at Danny Meyer’s Gramercy Tavern gets into the season by decorating the bar room with trees, ornaments, garland, and the like. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, etc., etc. The real highlights are the cookie ornaments that pastry chef Nancy Olson — and, according to the restaurant, her team of “pastry elves” — whips up. The best part: They’re completely edible. And we’ve got the recipe, which will make about fifteen to twenty cookies, so you can spend the weekend decorating your own tree (or just eating them).
