The takeover continues on Downtown’s 5th Street. A liquor license application is posted at the former home of The Must for “JP Lounge,” an under-construction project under owner David McGrath, who was leased the space after landlords gave the wine bar the old heave-ho without warning in the dead of night so they could utilize the space themselves with their adjacent Stray Cat Cafe. According to the health inspector, a public hearing for the pending application will be held on January 5th, allowing those opposed plenty of time to must-er up a counter-strike. Meanwhile, Blogging L.A. reports that The Must will return soon to Downtown at the Hellman Building and puts its former landlords, Julie Rico and Sid Carter, on their “naughty list.”
