Zagat Buzz has a nutritionist estimate the calorie count of tasting menus at L’Atelier (1,470 calories), Per Se (2,320), wd~50 (2,465), Alinea (3,045), and the newly opened Compose (1,910). No surprise that at least one of them exceeds the USDA’s suggested daily allowance — a few years ago New York hired a food-testing lab to analyze a nine-course meal at Per Se and it clocked in at 2,416 calories, or about four and a half Big Macs.
