First Look into The Space and Menus at Vū, Now Open in Marina Del Rey

opened in Marina Del Rey’s Jamaica Bay Inn yesterday for the cuisine of Kyle Schutte, a Richard Blais charge with a cap full of creativity in dishes like that chicken-fried watermelon and buffalo carpaccio that we recently offered a glimpse of, a mere part of a very clever, ambitious, and expansive selection of dishes. While it is a vast improvement on the Best Western that preceded it at this location, the dining room hasn’t completely shaken off the hotel vibe, from a carpet of questionable taste that leads into a lounge of chatting television sets to design pieces that would only look less exotic if they were still on the shelves of Cost Plus World Market. What Vū does have is great views of the Marina, which could almost be mistaken for the beach itself, smooth marble tabletops in a bar that encourages interaction among customers, and an expansive patio that makes us wish it was already summer (was it even summer last summer?).
