Big Star wasn’t kidding about the DIY taco kits. Today they just outlined the details of this new catering option. As long as you call in an hour ahead, you can order a minimum of 50 tacos or tostadas to go for your next office meeting. All the ingredients will be packaged separately, so the tacos won’t get all limp and tired during the delivery. The only items to be excluded from the offer are the spectacularly messy Sonoran hot dog and queso fundido, which really wouldn’t travel well. Look for the offer to start next week, and check out the full press release below for all the details. Oh, and in other wonderful Big Star news, looks like they are also planning to start selling fresh corn tortillas.

Starting next week, Big Star will offer customers the opportunity to order do-it-yourself taco fixings for at-home celebrations. Says Chef de Cuisine Justin Large, “We always have large to-go order requests or catering requests, and due to the small size of our kitchen, this has not been possible. I’ve devised a way to fill those larger requests with a DIY concept.”

In a few days, guests will be able to phone-in their orders with at least an hour’s advance notice (advance orders can also be placed days ahead of time). There is a 50 taco or tostada minimum per order, and the only items not available are the queso fundido and Sonoran hot dog. All ingredients will be packaged separately, so that guests can assemble at home to their liking.

The take-out offer is available seven days a week, from opening until 8:00 p.m. No orders will be taken after 7:00 p.m. The cost is the same as the regular to-go menu, plus a two percent surcharge for packaging. In other to-go news, Large says that Big Star is also devising a way to package and sell fresh tortillas.
