If you’ve ever been unclear on what “California cuisine” is, Berkli Parc plans to answer that, but not until next month when the full food menu is rolled out. For now, the café, which opened this morning as planned, is offering Dallis coffee and espresso, plus light fare like house-baked scones and homemade granola with yogurt and fruit. The biggest draws for now will appeal to laptop-ers: free Wi-Fi and a comfortable, light-filled room with lots of seating. Co-owner Mark Hernandez (who’s managed Morimoto and Maya) tells us he plans to “do the full-blown thing when everything is perfect.” When that happens, expect entree-size soups and salads plus sandwiches made on local bread. Meanwhile, get a look at the corner space in our slideshow.
