Over at SFoodie, Kauffman brings word that SoMa Burmese restaurant Yellow Pa Taut (15 Boardman Place at Bryant) has shuttered, and has already been replaced by the reborn T-Dub’s on Fridays. T-Dub’s is all barbecue, all the time, featuring the signature sauce by local pitmaster Thomas Ware (T-Dub), and the restaurant existed in an earlier incarnation in the Richmond at Geary and Second Avenue in the early aughts. None of the meats are smoked, but are braised and finished on the grill with Ware’s sauce. And here’s how he explains the funny name: “When I was growing up in Cleveland, my family didn’t have a lot of money. So we didn’t have much to eat on the weekdays. But every Friday, my mom would make up a big batch of barbecued chicken wings.” Also featured are traditional southern sides like yams and mac-and-cheese, all named for someone in his family.
