Gina’s Cuisine in the South Loop was never the best restaurant in the area, but it definitely had character and it was sad to see it close up last summer. So it’s nice to hear from Sloopin that the old storefront is going to be filled by a new restaurant called TLC. At first we wondered whether it had any connection to the cable network, but the name actually is “The L Cafe.” We are finding it absolutely astonishing that this name hasn’t been trademarked. No word for now on the full menu, but the sign on the window promises “wraps, paninis, sandwiches, soups and salads.” [Sloopin]
