The Metreon to Get Facelift, Restaurants That Actually Face the Street

The Metreon has been a bit of an eyesore for a while down in the Yerba Buena environs, having been conceived and designed as some kind of silver, fortress-like mall that trapped movie-goers in a 1990s dreamworld of brushed aluminum and video games. Thankfully, by 2012 or so, it should look a bit more like this, complete with a second-story Target store, a “dining terrace” facing Yerba Buena Gardens, and a new assortment of easy breezy dining options including Mixt Greens, La Boulange, Best of Burger, Chipotle, and Brandy Ho’s. But alas, no Tavern on the Green West.
