This week saw close to the spectrum of celebrity birthday parties. Meg Ryan had a low-key celebration with friends and daughter Daisy at Serendipity 3, whereas Gerard Butler (true to form, perhaps?) marked turning 41 with raucous crowds at the Darby. Sample punch line from comedian James Smith: “Gerard, your chemistry with Jennifer Aniston was like the sexual chemistry between Regis and Kelly.” Things were seemingly less jovial for Anne Hathaway, whose birthday dinner with her boyfriend and folks was cut short by what fellow diners saw as a crying jag.
