Last night Jean-Luc Naret swooped into Chicago in advance of the Michelin guide announcement, to wine and dine at The Violet Hour. It was original set up as a casual event, a nice kick off for the announcement on Wednesday. But after the potential leak yesterday, and the company’s decision to move the announcement up to today, the air was a little more excited. Looking dapper as usual, Naret managed to fend off the accusations, and, for the most part, looked unworried about the success of the guide. For its part, The Violet Hour cranked out drinks at a breakneck pace, and also dished out a succession of little, fatty appetizers. We were also lucky enough to attend, and were able to see what happens when the Michelin guide takes over a bar.
