Logan Square Kitchen Rezoned

It’s been a bumpy first year for the Logan Square Kitchen. Though it had been opened as a shared kitchen and event space, it had accidentally been zoned as a banquet hall, which caused all kinds of headaches and problems. Under the designation, it needed a parking lot on site, which it didn’t have and couldn’t afford. In a recent piece in the Chicago Reader owner, Zina Murray, admitted that if the problem wasn’t fixed the kitchen would probably close by January. But last Friday she met with the Zoning Board of Appeals in an effort to ditch the banquet hall label. She expected to hear something within the next two weeks, but the good news unexpectedly came yesterday. She immediately took to Twitter: “GREAT NEWS! We won last Friday’s Zoning Appeal, UNANIMOUSLY!” Good news, indeed. [@logansqkitchen]
