Sure, it will be 7:00 in the morning, the air will probably be as chilly as a bowl of naengmyon at Yu Chun, and you’ll still be wading through a fridge full of leftovers with a pounding sweet potato hangover, but that isn’t stopping L.A. Creamery from opening this Friday at Westfield Topanga. A gourmet ice cream parlor co-owned by former BLT Steak and Cafe Del Rey pastry chef Jessica Goryl, the store will offer 16-18 rotating flavors, all made in-house, including the usual suspects, as well as stranger scoops like caramelized honey and blue cheese, maple bacon, olive oil and sea salt, and Concord grape, plus adults-only flavors like bourbon pecan pie and dark chocolate Kahlua. In addition, expect sorbet, fresh fruit popsicles, ice cream sandwiches, bon bons on sticks, sundaes, baked sweets, and Intelligentsia coffee, which should restore some warmth before you venture back to the Valley chill. After Friday’s debut, L.A. Creamery will expand to Glendale’s Americana and very likely beyond.
