American Music Award Attendees Get First Glimpse of Rolling Stone’s Hollywood Club

After celebrating the musical genius of such ground-breaking luminaries as Justin Bieber and Kelly Osborne, The American Music Awards took its party to Rolling Stone’s two-story Hollywood restaurant and nightclub last night, the very first time the cover’s been cracked on this forthcoming club. ABC relates some juicy details from the party, where Kid Rock and Ke$ha cavorted in the VIP room, Katy Perry and Russel Brand sat on a couch (couples are so boring like that), and John Legend smooched his gal. And what do we learn about the magazine’s hospitality project in the process?

The restaurant, once slated to debut last summer, is opening in February 2011, but plans to host an after-party for The Grammy’s first. The upstairs restaurant comes trimmed in black laquer, with a gallery of framed magazine covers lining the walls and also worked into the overhead lighting fixtures. Downstairs is a dance club, with star-shaped chandeliers, more magazine covers behind the DJ booth, and a hidden speakeasy stuffed in the back, presumably where Justin Bieber and Usher can carry on unmolested. You know, to discuss mentorship and all that that involves.

As for food, last night the “musicians” got their golden fingers on servings of short ribs, sliders, crab cakes, and freshwater eel rolls. In the past, the restaurant announced plans for a twisted “American” menu with Mexican touches, though a chef is yet to be announced. That final piece of information just might foretell whether the space, “designed to blow our minds,” remains a place for celebrity after-parties or actually generates interest for local diners.
