At long last Agiato, the Manayunk paninoteca and Italian wine bar from Joseph Scarpone that’s been in the works since the summer of 2009 has opened, the Insider reports. Its arrival comes almost simultaneously with Sticks & Stones, the South Philly spot that’s been “just a few weeks away” for more than two years. With two of the longest delayed restaurant projects of recent memory both finally up and running, Grub Street can’t help but wonder how far off Shola Olunloyo is with his six-months-behind-schedule Speck? A quick peek at Olunloyo’s blog suggests an opening could be imminent. Recent posts detail the ins and outs of the Speck kitchen, and a challenge to some New York bartenders to come up with signature cocktails for the restaurant. Perhaps the most promising words are, “Now it is time to bloody cook.” [Insider]
