After a slight delay, Blokes & Birds is ready to open next Tuesday in Lakeview. The “contemporary English gastropub with an ear for classic rock” has a handsome dining room, a secluded and cozy basement, and at least two fireplaces. While it’s not quite ready to open, we were able to get a look at that British menu. Much like Owen & Engine, it pauses for a few American classics, before digging into some pretty authentic pub classics. So while there is a Bloke’s burger, there is also Shepard’s pie, fish and chips, and bangers and mash. The menu also includes a list of thirteen house cocktails (not counting the two non-alcoholic offerings, of course) and thirteen beers on draft. Not sure what this is all about, but here’s wishing them some good luck.
