
That new bar, lounge and restaurant with the 8,000 square foot patio that we’ve been mentioning, Jones (620 Jones Street), opens for real on Friday, serving up drinks in the open air. The kitchen, sadly, won’t be open until November 1, so the food menus from Oola chef Ola Fendert won’t be viable until then. But we’ve seen the space and the gazebo bar, as well as the enormous landscaped patio overlooking Geary Street and the surrounding high-rises, and we can say the place feels downright un-San Francisco-like — we heard several people say they felt like they were in L.A. or New York, which for the sake of variety around here, is a good thing.
