This Sunday, Taste of Abbot Kinney is back for its second year with help from neighborhood destinations like Joe’s, Wabi-Sabi, Tasting Kitchen, Jin Patisserie, Tlapazola, N’Ice Cream, Shima, and The Otherroom. And while Axe and Gjelina will sit this non-profit fundraiser out, Ludo Truck and a smattering of other four-wheeled caterers will be on-site, as after-all, Abbot-Kinney is a prime roosting spot for food trucks. Who else will provide tastings and entertain you?
There will also be over seven wines offered from Lincoln Fine Wines, along with haircuts from Floyd’s, spa services from Nite Spa, and musical performances by trippy Thelonious Dub, actress/singer Rebecca Finer, Academy Award-nominated Bird York, Adam Stern, and Logan Johnson, among other local talents. The event’s proceeds go to Venice-based Inside Art Community Arts, a Presidential Coming Up Taller Award-winning non-profit started after the 1992 riots that has provided free after-school performing arts workshops to middle school children across L.A. for over fifteen years (and with whom this author has worked). This fall, Inside Out has had to cancel its prized programming due to a lack of funding that has plagued non-profits in the current economy, making the day a crucial one to help it survive. So, who will be there, and since entry is free, how do you get food?
Tasting tickets are available for two-dollars each or in packages at the entrances, with most restaurants charging 1-2 tickets per tasting. The event will take place from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., and until Friday, disocunt packages can help you save a few bucks on all that is offered.
