Michael Mina’s eponymous restaurant lives again tonight in the former Aqua space (252 California), and Grub Street got a sneak peek of the remodel — first at their blowout, almost 80s-feeling opening shindig on Saturday night, and then again for a few photos last night. The interior — designed in a Japanese/minimalist vein by original Aqua designers Frost Tsuji architects using the seasons as a starting point — is not significantly altered from its Aqua days, save for some new art, and a new sculptural divider greeting you at the front door by the artist Wyatt Ellison. In case you missed it, here’s the new menu, and click through for our slideshow.

Michael Mina - 252 California - 415.397.9222 - Open for lunch, in the bar, Monday through Friday, 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; dinner is served 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday to Thursday, and until 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday
