Speck Food + Wine, Chef Shola Olunloyo’s much hyped debut restaurant, is unlikely to open this week, or next for that matter. Despite earlier claims that the long-awaited addition to the Piazza’s growing collection of restaurants would be opened by Memorial Day, by Labor Day and so on, the project today is at least six more weeks away from seating guests, the Insider reports. The latest setback is attributed to problems with kitchen equipment and construction issues. Olunloyo, who has planned to revive his legendary under-the-radar StudioKitchen dinners at Speck’s kitchen counter and already started booking them, has had to issue refunds for the few lucky souls who were able to score spots for the initial exclusive meals. On the plus side, those who’ve been refunded are supposedly getting invited to a complimentary dinner during restaurant’s opening, when ever that might be. [Insider]
