Boston’s diners are being bamboozled: One journalist found that multiple dining forays to the city’s Italian ‘hood had one thing in common: waiters with accents. Skeptical of the likelihood that so many immigrants continued to flood the city, his hunch uncovered the dark truth. “’Your accent, she seems to a come and go, no?’ I said, impersonating the impersonator. When the check came, I asked him one last time. ‘You can tell me, I won’t tell a soul. Where are you really from?’ He smiled and said out of the side of his mouth ‘All right, I’m from Winthrop.’”
