Coming soon in the thick of L.A.’s fro-yo fatigue is Nubi, a self-serve frozen yogurt franchise with locations up north and scattered through SoCal’s suburbs, including one in San Gab that opened last spring. This will be the city of L.A.’s first Nubi, coming to Olympic right above Farifax’s Little Ethiopia. The hook here is a spread of flavors from the usual “tart” and fruit, to sweeter blends of peanut butter, banana cream pie, cheesecake, and cafe latte, plus healthy toppings from pomegranate seeds to lychee, and cavity inducers like Cap ‘N Crunch, Butterfingers, and Jelly Bellies. Since most of the yogurt here is probiotic and supposedly fat-free, why not ladle a few servings of Fruity Pebbles on top? Besides the obvious aversions to blehtacularity, of course. Anyway, even if you’re over fro-yo, a fat-free pumpkin pie on its homepage looks tempting.
Nubi, coming soon to 6060 W. Olympic Blvd. Mid-City.
