Say what you will about Puritans, but they weren’t teetotalers: In fact, they paved they way for New England’s 400-year-long love affair with hooch. In commemoration of this longstanding relationship, Plymouth’s Pilgrim Hall Museum has curated an exhibit that raises a glass to the culture of drinking throughout the ages. Globe coverage of the exhibit observes that “There was a time in this country’s history when children swigged beer; rum and whiskey were preferred over hard currency; and a president of the United States, John Adams, was known to start his day by knocking back a tankard of hard cider.” Check out the forefathers to the beer bongs and barrel-aged cocktails during the run of the “Plymouth History in a Glass: The Artifacts and Culture of Beverages and Drinking” exhibit.
