Celebrated French-American chef Jacques Pepin had a big 75th birthday party at Roland Passot’s Left Bank restaurant in Menlo Park last Thursday night. As the San Mateo County Times reports, the event doubled as a fundraiser for KQED and their production of Pepin’s latest TV venture, The Essential Pepin. “This is my second home,” Pepin joked with the assembled dinner guests. “Although my first home, you can recognize from my accent, [is] Connecticut.” The event pulled in $29,000, and you can expect more Pepin sightings in the coming month: Pepin will be sticking around the Bay to shoot all 26 episodes of the show before heading back east.
