Firewood and Lori’s Diner Closing Their Pre-Security Outposts at SFO

Given what a royal pain in the ass it is going through security at the airport these days, it’s no wonder that sales at the pre-security restaurants at San Francisco International Airport have been declining the last couple of years despite foot traffic through the airport rising. Who has time to sit down and eat before going through the hassle of that line? The Examiner reports that Firewood, Andale, Lori’s Diner, and Just Desserts are all shuttering their pre-security outposts for reasons of “financial relief,” and the airport is looking at some of these spaces for expansion of security checkpoint queues.

This follows on recent news of the huge food court development coming to Terminal 2 next year, post-security, which will include Cat Cora’s ‘Que, Tyler Florence’s Rotisserie & Wine, Vino Volo Wine Bar, Lark Creek Grill, Cowgirl Creamery, Acme Breads, Three Twins Ice Cream, Equator Coffee, Pinkberry, and more. Andale will have a location here as well, so it seems clear that closing their pre-security branch was a strategic choice.
