We honestly admit that we don’t cover much of the vegan scene in Chicago. The occasional vegetarian restaurant may get a call out, but our interaction with vegan cuisine is usually relegated to free vegan samples dished out at Whole Foods. So we decided to check out the annual Chicago VeganMania, which took place this Saturday at the Pulaski Park Fieldhouse, to see what kind of delicious things we could find. The event featured a collection of nine different food vendors, and well over 40 different other vendors and organizations. Check out the full slideshow after the jump.
We knew we’d probably run into the Chicago Diner, but we were most surprised by the range of cuisines. We encountered vegan soul food and Chinese, along with a range of desserts. There were loads and loads of samples, as well as cooking demonstrations, speakers, and performers.
