We thought we’d check in on our local representative this season on The Next Iron Chef, Sonoma’s Duskie Estes. It seems she’s already become a fan favorite on the show, second only to Mario Pagan, who’s now been eliminated. And it’s looking like she may go far! Watch this clip from the judging of last night’s episode in which the challenge was “resourcefulness” and Duskie used her NorCal, farm-to-table ways to wow the judges with both a scorpion fish dish, and a bacon-wrapped sardine stuffed with figs, hazelnuts, and scorpion fish liver and heart. She earlier told Grub Street that fancy, wasteful plating has never been her thing, so this appears to have been the episode where she turned things around in that regard.
